Auricular acupuncture, also known as ear acupuncture, is an alternative medicine practice that involves the stimulation of specific points on the outer ear in order to treat various ailments. The practice has been around for centuries and has been documented to be successful in treating pain, anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses.
The great news? We offer auricular acupuncture at Hoag Concierge Medicine!
How Does Auricular Acupuncture Work?
Auricular acupuncture is a form of alternative medicine that is based on the idea that the ear contains a map of the body. By stimulating specific points on the ear, we can help regulate various bodily functions.
What to Expect
The treatment is done by inserting thin needles into specific points on the ear. The needles are then stimulated in order to stimulate corresponding points on the body and activate the body’s natural healing abilities. Each session lasts about 15-20 minutes.
It is important to note that every person’s experience with this treatment will differ because it depends on how they respond to it. Some people may feel nothing at all while others might feel some pain or discomfort while the needles are being placed on or removed.
At Hoag Concierge Medicine, we can also place semi-permanent needles that can stay in for a week or longer after which they can either be removed by the patient or they may fall out on their own.

The benefits of auricular acupuncture are many, including:
- Improved sleep
