What is a Memory Screening?

Memory loss can affect all areas of your life. You may not be able to remember new events or recall one or more memories from the past, or both, as a result of memory loss. The cause may be either temporary or permanent, and, depending on the reason, the memory impairment may become worse over time. It may not go away, and it may be interfering with daily living activities.

What is Memory Loss?

Memory loss is the gradual and irreversible loss of memory that worsens over time. Signs of cognitive decline include noticing forgetting who you’re talking to or you’re searching for words while speaking.

Dementia is the name given to a group of symptoms including memory loss, difficulties with thinking and problem-solving and reduced social skills. There are many different types of dementia, some more common than others.

The most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s disease. This condition can start with mild memory problems before progressing to a total loss of memory without any warning signs or symptoms in the middle stages. Other causes include other diseases or conditions that damage the brain, such as a head injury or Parkinson’s disease or vascular dementia caused by problems with blood flow in the brain.

What is a Memory Screening?

A memory screening is a doctor’s way of testing if you are showing signs of memory loss or dementia. It involves asking you a series of questions that cover a wide range of topics and can help your doctor determine if you are showing any of the symptoms associated with memory loss or dementia.
